Alkington Parish Design Statement
The Parish Design Statement was produced by the council and community and describes the distinctive character of the parish. It identifies the landscape setting, the shape of the settlements and the nature of the buildings.
It establishes the context in which to help manage how changes in terms of land use and development can work, ensuring that any such changes should reflect the distinct community character. It does not focus on whether or where developments should happen but on how a development might look in the parish.

The Alkington Parish Design Statement was developed by a working party of councillors and parishioners and overseen by Jan Sayers.
Alkington parishioners were consulted through a questionnaire developed to all households and at two community events.
Thanks go to the Gloucestershire Rural Community Council for their guidance, support and commitment throughout the project, Stroud District Council for the initial grant and Alkington Parish Council for additional funding.
